THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS |
On December 14th I awakened to find a wonderful present from my dear husband, Dave. It was a branch from my Bradford Pear tree that we have in our front yard. He had taken a picture of David Cassidy (the older son on The Partridge Family) and duct taped it into the branch. I was so impressed by his creativity (Partridge in a Pear Tree), but I assumed it was just a one time gift. However, the gifts did not stop! So, I decided to document these unique gifts and to brag on my husband a little at the same time. I had no idea he was so creative!

On the First day of Christmas my true love gave to me......
A Partridge in a Pear Tree |
.On the Second day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Two turtle doves |
On the Third day of Christmas my true love gave to me.....
Three French Hens |
On the Fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Four calling birds |
On the Fifth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
FIVE Golden rings |
The bird had a number 4 tied around its neck. I guess that is how he got by with only one bird!
The kids were a little scared of the bird, especially since it had borrowed their toy telephone! Can't say that I blame them! |
I was really hoping for GOLD! I had even held my hands out to show them how lovely 5 new rings were going to look! These are onion rings from Burger King. He said he had to be careful that I didn't smell them. He didn't even eat any of them so I wouldn't smell them on his breath! |
MERRY CHRISTMAS from our home to yours. I pray that God blesses each one of you with a special and joyous holiday season!

On the Sixth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Six Geese a Layin' |
I don't know if you can read the note, but it says "There's got to be at least six Geese a layin' in here"
I didn't think he could top the onion rings! |
On The Seventh Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Seven Swans a Swimmin' |
Have you ever heard of Schwan's Foods? This was a magnet we had on our refrigerator that was taking a swim in a glass of water! I have to admit that I had just noticed the magnet yesterday (although it has always been there) and had about guessed that he would use it for his swan! |
On the Eighth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Eight Maids a Milkin' |
Woo hoo! Something edible! He scored a lot of points with this gift. It is a big tin of popcorn (nice for breakfast - ha ha) On top, there are 8 Milk Maids Caramels. I'd never heard of that brand before today...I'll never forget them now!
** I have to tell you something about this one...later in the day I picked up the can to move it, picking it up by the handles. Well, that is how you remove the lid. I ended up with popcorn all over the kitchen floor. I was so sad! My 3 year old was eager to "help" me. |
On the Ninth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me.....
Nine Ladies Dancing |
There was a note with this one too: "A whole bunch of Ladies Dancin' in there - At least nine or better. Any comments I might have as to the quality of the Dancin' are better left unsaid"
Ok, I guess I must confess....I have been a closet Sweatin' to the Oldies participant...but you sure can't tell it by these thighs! He had to wipe the dust off this one first! Guess I know one of my New Year's resolutions ((sigh)) What a "wonderful" present to follow my candy and popcorn from yesterday! |
On the Tenth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Ten Lords a Leapin' |
Note left for me:
PLEASE FAIR LADY, HELP US!! ONCE WE WERE HANDSOME LORDS AND PRINCES BUT NOW WE ARE FROGS. PLEASE KISS US FAIR LADY AND WE WILL LEAP FOR JOY!!!!*
*Disclaimer: Under No Circumstances does Management guarantee the claims of these frogs to be true. It has not been demonstrated that if kissed that any of these frogs will turn into lords or princes, however management is fairly certain that if kissed these frogs will leap. Management accepts No responsibility for injuries or conditions such as frog in the throat or warts incurred while kissing leaping frogs. |
On the Eleventh Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Eleven Pipers Piping |
The note with this one read:
Let's see, was it Pipers Piping or Plumbers Plumbing? Can't remember. Oh well, same difference. Well, there's eleven of them there. Don't know why anyone would need eleven of them, tho. I'm sure any one of them would be glad to fix your pipes for you. And goodness, who could afford that many of 'em? But anyway, there they are. |
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Twelve Drummers Drumming |
My digital camera (with a few pictures in it) was sitting upon this note today:
Twelve Drummers Drumming. I mean, Get Real! What in the world do you need Twelve Drummers for anyway? Think of the noise. And how much they would eat! Where would you keep 'em all anyway? Besides, all you really need is YOUR TRUE LOVE
Merry Christmas |
I am overwhelmed at all the positve response I have received from this silly website. Hopefully, it has made you smile a little. I have really laughed over it a lot! I never dreamed I'd hear from 13 different countries...and all the 50 US States!
Please take a moment to sign the guest book! We really enjoy all of your comments.
Check below for Dave's response. |

Hello everyone, this is Dave.
First of all, let me tell all of you who have taken the time to check out and leave a note on Emily's website how much I appreciate it. Thank you for all your kind and funny comments. A special thanks to the guy who tried to get me out of mowing but sorry, it didn't work. But seriously, this has meant a lot to both Emily and me. Emily had intended to wait and show this to me on Christmas but she couldn't stand it and showed it to me after the eighth day. (My wife can NOT keep a secret.) Talk about pressure! Fortunately, by then I pretty much knew what I was going to do each day so that took some of the pressure off. We have both been overwhelmed by the response to my little joke. But we have both had a lot of fun, too.
Emily lost her Dad a few months ago after a long battle with cancer and this was the first Christmas without him. I wanted to make this a special and fun Christmas for her and I think with all your help, I suceeded. So once again, thanks to all of you. May all of you have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. May God bless all of you and your families each and every day. Dave
